Someone Like Me
The holiday season.
That time of the year we hear the music shifts, the commercials filled with families and smiling faces, the time changes, and everything is 100 miles per hour every day.
But the reality is that for many the holidays aren’t the most cheerful times.
Kids begin to act out at school. Why? Because they’re worried to out of school for so many days during the cooler weather. Less food. Less people to hold them close and tell them they matter.
Adults begin to act differently sometimes. Why? Because they have no one to celebrate the holidays with. They’re worried about the additional costs associated with the holidays.
Or if you’re like me, the holidays have a tinge of pain involved because someone you love is no longer with you on these days.
I know that’s not the POINT of these seasons. But regardless of “what we’re celebrating”, it’s idiotic to believe that real life people, with real life emotions, don’t have other things at play.
Just the other day a little known artist that I’ve been obsessed with. He’s a bilingual singer named, Evan Craft. He just released his brand new Christmas single and EP.
The single is called “Someone Like Me”. And when I listened to the words and the emotion in his voice as he sings it, I balled my eyes out. I just knew I had to share it you.
Maybe this holiday season, you find yourself full of joy and in the best days of your life! AWESOME!! Own that joy and celebrate it!
But for those who are struggling….this, today, is for you….
“I’m in the last pew where I sit every Christmas eve
Since I lost my faith between broken and shattered dreams
Oh, where do I go if not the place where I found belief?
Is it this time of year or are you calling out to me?
So I pray
That I’m not too far gone for a Savior
There’s still room at the inn for a stranger
Is there mercy for someone like me?
So I pray
To the King they say that came in a manger
Would rescue me despite all my failures
Is there mercy for someone like me?
Someone like me
If you’re listening I really need to hear your voice
Tell me it’s not over tonight, there’s still a glimpse of hope
And I know I’m broken, I’m lost, I’m the prodigal, oh
But I’m begging you, God, oh, I’m begging for a miracle, oh
So I pray
That I’m not too far gone for a Savior
That there’s still room at the inn for a stranger
Is there mercy for someone like me? Oh
So I pray
To the King they say that came in a manger
Would rescue me despite all my failures
Is there mercy for someone like me?
Oh, someone like me”
Today, I pray you remember that you matter.
You’re here for a reason.
I am so thankful you’re here.
